London Thamesport has established itself as a Low Carbon Construction Hub, presenting numerous advantages for both the environment and the local economy.

First and foremost, we are aligned with global sustainability goals by promoting the use of eco-friendly materials and construction practices to significantly reduce carbon emissions associated with building projects. This initiative serves as a catalyst for innovation in green technology, leading to more efficient energy use and waste reduction, whilst also, setting a benchmark for the construction industry.

PACADAR UK

Grupo PACADAR offers unique conditions in the precast concrete sector, allowing them to reliably take on any kind of project, regardless of complexity, as proven by the consistent increase in customer confidence.

London Thamesport allows PACADAR to operate an all in one facility with a proven & resilient supply chain, great access via barge, train or truck, with over 100,000 m2 of storage capacity.

PACADAR produced 7,044 rings measuring 12km for the Thames Tideway Tunnel, 8,450 rings (16km) for HS2 Northolt tunnels 8,450 and 1,610 rings (3.2km) for Long Itchington Wood Tunnel.

We work closely allowing for us to anticipate solutions and open the doors to innovation.

Medway Aggregates

Medway Aggregates has an established facility within London Thamesport where it is able to handle self-discharging ships and also discharge conventional ships by means of an onshore crane.

The site operates 24/7, has 5 acres of aggregate storage space in bays and a facility to load out products over a weighbridge. Products handled include, hardstone aggregate, sand and gravel, decorative aggregate, salt and PFA.

The facility provides the option to import, store and then distribute products for customers, utilising their own fleet of vehicles.

Fully equipped for heavy lifts

At London Thamesport, we have specialist equipment and people trained to safely handle heavy cargoes.

We specialise in handling heavy cargo for the construction sector in particularly, pre-cast segments.

With our own onsite engineering team and fully trained operatives, we can find solutions to handle all cargoes.

Shipping by sea

Shipping by barge offers several advantages for reducing CO2 emissions compared to other transportation methods. Barges are typically more fuel-efficient due to their large cargo capacity and the ability to transport substantial volumes of goods with less fuel per ton-mile. This efficiency translates to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Incorporating barge transport can significantly contribute to lowering the carbon footprint in freight shipping.

Rail

Rail connections are increasingly important as shippers seek efficient, reliable and sustainable transport options. London Thamesport offers a wide range of rail options.

As an example HS2 used 400 freight trains to deliver precast tunnel segments to site which reduced the carbon impact of the logistics operation by approximately 2,250 tonnes.
