London Thamesport is well established as one of the leading short sea container ports in the South East of England and offers excellent service levels in both quayside and landside operations.

Frequent short sea sailings connect to a variety of intermodal services reaching multiple hinterland locations across Europe and most notably: Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain & the Nordics.

Hutchison Ports London Thamesport is located on the River Medway near London, in the heart of South East England, 35 miles from Central London. The terminal provides road and rail links to the UK’s important manufacturing and distribution centres and is ideally positioned to serve as a port of entry for UK-bound short-sea container traffic, as well as infrastructure projects around London.

Dutch-based transport company A2B-online Container B.V. has four weekly sailings on its service between Hutchison Ports London Thamesport and Moerdijk in The Netherlands.

A2B-online Container B.V. is a multi-modal short-sea operator specialising in full load, part load and pallet consignments to and from the United Kingdom, Benelux and Germany. It offers reliable short sea services from the port of Moerdijk including a door-to-door service with its own fleet of more than 2,000 45ft pallet-wide containers.

In addition to container transport by truck, there are various inland shipping and train connections such as, rail connections to and from Moerdijk to Belgium, Germany, Italy and Poland.

WEC Lines 'Euro Maroc Service'

The weekly ‘Euro Maroc Service’ is operated by three 800 TEU vessels on a 21-day fixed day rotation, with optimal short-sea and hinterland connections. The ports of call include, London Thamesport, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Montoir, Bilbao, Vigo, LeixÕes, Setubal, Casablanca, and Figueira da Foz, creating a vital connection between these key trade hubs.

Departing twice weekly, northbound and southbound from Montoir on a Tuesday and arriving in London Thamesport on a Thursday, the service provides an eco-friendly alternative to truck transport from West France to the UK. Our business is committed to protecting the environment, the new service is another step along our journey to achieving a sustainable port and Net-zero by 2035.

Whether your cargo is containerised or arriving in bulk vessels, our people are vastly experienced in safe handling.

Container Yard Capacity

We have capacity for up to 5,400 TEUs located close to the quay for the most efficient vessel turnarounds. These are served by 8 yard cranes and reefer gantries with up to 200 reefer points.

This allows for haulier turnaround times at the port of under 25 minutes.

Specialist Handling Capability

Our Container Division also provides specialist cargo handling capabilities, with a highly skilled and experienced workforce able to deploy the port’s specialist lifting equipment. Non-unitised cargoes can be loaded and unloaded alongside the standard container operations as well as, more complicated heavy project and break bulk cargoes.
